Guest Saunagus with Elizabeth
For one evening only, join visiting Sauna Master Elizabeth for a guided Saunagus ritual.
After spending the past four years leading classic Saunagus sessions at Sauna Nor Copenhagen, Denmark, Elizabeth has recently returned to the United States. We're honored to welcome her to Saunaday to share one of Scandinavia's most cherished sauna traditions.
What is Saunagus?
Saunagus is a guided sensory journey that combines traditional sauna bathing with aromatherapy, breathwork, music, and towel techniques. Throughout the session, the Gusmaster pours water infused with essential oils over the hot stones, creating fragrant steam that fills the sauna. Using a towel or fan, they circulate the heat throughout the room, creating waves of warmth that intensify the sensory experience.
A Saunagus ritual is divided into three guided rounds with 12 minutes in the sauna, each followed by 10-12 minutes to cool down and cold plunge. The contrast between the intense heat and cold water creates a deeply restorative experience, leaving many guests feeling calmer, stronger, and refreshed.
What to Expect
7:00 PM | Arrive, check in, change, and prepare for your session.
7:15 PM | Round One
Elizabeth begins the session quietly, focusing on breathing and allowing your body to absorb the heat. Carefully selected essential oils, music, and gentle fanning create a calm, grounding atmosphere before your first cold plunge.
Round Two
The second round becomes more upbeat, with music that lifts both you and the experience. The heat builds as Elizabeth's towel techniques circulate waves of warmth throughout the sauna before another invigorating cold plunge.
Round Three
The final round returns to stillness, inviting you to come home to your own body. Elizabeth's goal is for you to leave feeling calmer, stronger, and refreshed.
Following the Ritual
After the final round, take time to hydrate and integrate your experience. You're welcome to enjoy the steam room and shower facilities before the bathhouse closes at 9:00 PM.
